Long time... No Blog...

Blogging is hard! Seriously! I am really behind on my posts and I promise I will learn to get better at this new project. I feel like so much has happened since I last wrote...

A couple weeks ago, we had the first portion of the prenatal screening test. Talk about stressful. I was a wreck. Of course, what any parent wants is a healthy baby. A prenatal screening is a risk assessment for open neural tube defects (NTD), abdominal wall defects, Down syndrome (trisomy 21), trisomy 18 (incompatibility with life outside womb) and SLOS (Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome) through a simple blood test and ultrasound. If under age 35, this test is optional and non-invasive. We decided to take advantage of the technology. There are two parts to the screening. The second test will be completed mid-May. Our numbers (the baby's) look great at this time. We have a 1 in 4,900 chance that the baby will be born with Down Syndrome (very good) and a 1 in 10,000 chance the baby will be born with Trisomy 18 (even better). Keep praying for a HEALTHY baby! :)

We ARE going to find out the sex (taking advantage of the technology again). That appt is scheduled for May 30th! I am so excited for that one... I have had "boy" in my head until this week. Now I am thinking "girl"? Who knows. No preference for either of us. Again, just healthy.

More later!!! I swear...
Mel :)
