We're Pregnant!!!

Hello and welcome to the Hollister family website! Yes, the rumors are true! We are expanding our family (along with Mel's waistline)! We thought the easiest way to keep you all updated would be to start our very own blog. This blog will allow our friends and family to read the latest and greatest that is going on in our world as well as view photos.

Our thoughts:

Mel: When I was younger, I was not the one to babysit other people's children (well, maybe for the right price). I was the one that said I did not want kids and especially ones that cry or poop! A few years ago, something came over me (tick, tick, tick) and I could not wait to become a mother. I had mentioned to Matt it could take up to a year or more for couples to conceive (this was only part of my "case"). It took us a month. I took about 13 at-home-pregnancy tests in 2 days... The tests that read positive were from the dollar store (yes, you can buy them there and stop laughing, Keasa!). I didn't trust the $ store brand, so I went back to the store and purchased the most expensive brands on the shelf and drove home like a crazy person to pee on a stick (or two, or three).... They all read negative! So confusing! Matt said that he needed some better proof, so I went in for a blood test the next day. It was the longest 4 hours of my life, but the nurse finally called and said, "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'RE PREGNANT!" Ha! The dollar store tests were right! So far, I have not really had morning sickness (knocking on wood). However, I have been completely and totally exhausted. I yawn all day, fall asleep every chance I get and am in bed by 8:30.... My plan is to maintain an active lifestyle and continue with my workouts throughout the pregnancy (which is recommended). I am reading and researching pregnancy, motherhood and parenting every chance I get. This little person inside of me may make me tired, but it is the most wonderful feeling to actually be creating someone-together!!!

Matt: There certainly are a lot of thoughts that go through your mind when you first hear the news.... Excitement is certainly the first followed by "Holy Crap!" :) Let me just say that trying to analyze and calculate every possible scenario that could arise over the next 20 years is taking a bit longer than I had hoped. So instead I am starting with a "Daddy To Be"book. The ABC's and 123's of fatherhood. That's a good start I think. More to come....

Thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm upon us sharing our news!! As you can guess....we are both very excited (and somewhat nervous) to begin this journey together!
